AutumnFest 2010

Arboretum President Jean Marie Eagler (aka “Mother Nature”) appears in a brief televised interview publicizing AutumnFest 2010. Click here, then choose the October 14 “T.O.L. – Thinking Out Loud” on-demand video broadcast on Chesapeake’s WCTV Ch.48. Her segment is the second of three, beginning about 8 minutes after the start of the show.
Farmtastic Family Fun!
Activities included:
- Straw bale maze, other kids’ activities by Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council
- Old-timey farm tractor display, courtesy Greenbrier Farms
- Make, take your own scarecrow, thanks to Pilot Club of Chesapeake
- Hybrid Ford vehicle from Cavalier Automotive Group
- Beekeeping, butterfly, “Buy Fresh Buy Local” exhibitors
- Rainbarrel demonstration by Chesapeake Master Gardeners
- Watercolor demonstration and plein air instruction by Everett Cossaboon, noted area artist
- Handmade quilt raffle; 2nd prize a unique pottery art piece from Wobbly Wolfe Pottery Studios
- Eco-friendly vendors including Chesapeake Friends of the Arts and Eco Maniac Company
- Tree trail tours, pruning and tree climbing demonstrations
- Food vendor (hot dogs, veggie wraps, chips, soda, water)
Personal appearances by Woodsy Owl (“Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute”) and Chesapeake Arboretum’s own Mother Nature
